Proposal

Rationale

Many people use the crossing on Clarendon St to get between Psarakos Market and the off-street carpark.

At the existing crossing car drivers have right of way. In Your Street, Your Say - Group B Stage 1 we heard this is confusing for people driving cars and people walking.

Installing a raised zebra crossing will mean drivers have to stop for people crossing Clarendon St. This will make the crossing safer and easier for people walking.

The raised zebra crossing has been designed. The road surface and drainage on Clarendon St is due for major repairs. For efficiency, the raised zebra crossing will be constructed at the same time as the road maintenance.

More safety improvements nearby are proposed in Priority Project 11: Clarendon St near St David St.
