City of Darebin (“Council”) collects, holds and manages personal information under the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) (“PDP Act”) and health information under the Health Records Act 2001 (“HR Act”). Your personal details are collected for data integrity purposes to minimise the risk of multiple submissions. For the purpose of this project, Council is also collecting your personal details in order to understand how any changes to our waste services might impact different members of the community.
You may choose to provide Council with your health information for the purpose of providing Council with your views on our waste and recycling services. The Council’s staff and contractors may access personal and health information you have provided through the survey, but only to the extent necessary to gather information for the project about which you were offering your views, or for that Contractor to provide services to the Council itself. The Council’s contractors may be service providers external to the Council, such as Greenshoot Consulting. Council may provide personal information to its agents, such as its accountants or lawyers. They will only hold personal information that is necessary to provide services to you or to Council.
Your Say Darebin is Council’s online engagement platform, where members of the Darebin community can provide feedback and access information on all community engagement current projects. This site is owned and operated by Darebin City Council using software licensed from Social Pinpoint. For details of how Social Pinpoint may access personal information, please refer to Social Pinpoint’s Privacy Policy. As any information you provide to Council on Your Say Darebin will be held outside Victoria, please take this into account in your decision to use Your Say Darebin. If you choose to participate in this survey, you consent to the transfer and storage of the information provided outside of Victoria.
Council has taken reasonable steps to ensure that Social Pinpoint will protect your data by engaging in a signed contract with Social Pinpoint so that it is required to adhere to the Australian Privacy Principles, which have similar privacy requirements to the Victorian Information Privacy Principles.
At times, the Council may be legally required to disclose personal information, for instance to the police, courts or other authorised organisations.
