We’re changing how we deliver waste and recycling in Darebin.
The changes we’re making are part of the State Government’s reform of household recycling, including a glass recycling service.
We all want to reduce waste going to landfill.

Kerbside waste collection frequency
We’re looking at how often we collect your kerbside waste for two of our existing waste streams:
- general waste
- food and green waste
All Victorians must have access to kerbside glass recycling by 2027. We’ve put together two options for this new service.

Public place recycling
You might have noticed that public recycling bins in streets and parks are often contaminated with non-recyclable waste.
Tell us your ideas for how we can better support our community to use public recycling bins correctly.

Darebin Council is committed to reducing waste and supporting a local circular economy, where items are re-used and repurposed, rather than sent to landfill.
