Final implementation of Fairfield Parking Plan

16 September 2019

Last year we consulted with the community to implement parking restriction changes around Fairfield. Then we started a public consultation on a draft Parking Strategy for the whole of Darebin, which was withdrawn on 11 June 2019. We are continuing the discussion about parking in Fairfield because we committed to making changes following the period of significant construction on Railway Place.

By way of background, following concerns from local businesses and the community about parking in Fairfield Village, we collected data and developed a draft parking plan in 2018. We consulted with over 1,500 properties and held two consultation sessions in May. The parking plan was designed and updated following community consultation to improve accessibility to the activity centre by creating parking spaces with time limits.

Now that the works have been completed in Railway Place, Council will proceed to install the changes that were delayed.

The changes to parking are:

  • 1P spaces outside 72A Railway Place (Monday to Sunday)
  • Two car share spaces outside the southern entrance to Fairfield Station

Following further feedback from our community, two minor changes have been incorporated into the plan. The changes are:

  • 1P spaces outside 36 Railway Place will be 3P spaces (Monday to Sunday)
  • One 1P space will be a 15 minute space outside 7-9 Railway Place
A map of the proposed changes may be found in the sidebar to the right of this page.

New signs and line-markings will be installed from 4 October 2019.
