What we've heard

During the first round of consultation, we heard the community is concerned about cyclist safety on Gower Street, from High Street to Plenty Road, due to narrow bike lanes, risk of car dooring and vehicles in loading zone blocking bike lane.

What we're proposing

We are proposing the following improvements for Gower Street, from High Street to Plenty Road:

• protected bike lanes to provide physical separation between cyclists, parked vehicles

and traffic. This would require removal of parking on one side of Gower Street. Note, the location of the loading zone near the Civic Centre may also need to be reviewed as part of this treatment.

This treatment is expected to have the following benefits:

• improved cyclist safety and comfort.
