Background

D R Atkinson Reserve Playground Renewal

We are renewing equipment at the D R Atkinson Reserve playground located on Argyle Street, Reservoir. We’re inviting you and other local community members who visit and use D R Atkinson Reserve to have a say on the upgrade of the play equipment.

This engagement presents two equipment options, please tell us which is your preferred one. Your input will help us refine the direction we take. By sharing your feedback, you’re helping shape play spaces that will support children to live healthy, social and active lives for years to come.

Once a decision is reached, the renewal of the playground will take place before June 2026. Any updates to the program will be communicated through this page.

Option 1 is a thoughtfully designed bespoke playground, featuring a unique large steel-frame climbing structure not found in other Darebin playgrounds.

This proposal includes:

  • A unique steel climbing structure
  • A nest swing
  • A small slide
  • Monkey bars

Option 2 prioritises variety, offering a wide selection of play equipment to cater to diverse interests and age groups.

This proposal includes:

  • A large play unit including:
    • slides
    • monkey bars
    • climbing net
    • climbing wall
    • bridges
  • A swing set, including a nest swing, a toddler swing and a community accessible swing
  • A seasaw
  • A rotanet
